useful information about pool deck resurfacing and coating
![]() Had it with your lack luster out of date pool deck? Resurfacing is surely the best cost effective option for you. When you resurface your old pool deck, you don't have to completely replace the existing concrete which can be quite expensive, unless you have cracks, but that's another story....there is an endless possibility of colors and patterns that you can choose that will make your pool deck looking like new again. If your pool deck has seen better days, there is an easy option out there for you. You can cover it with a special coating designed to go over your existing pool deck. These products can resurface concrete by spraying or using a trowel on top of any type of concrete pool deck. To mimic natural stones and patterns, when resurfacing you can add different textures and colors to match your pool design. Some techniques use stamped or stenciled resurfacing depending on the look you want. The products used by contractors to resurface pool decks are a mix of polymer resins, cement, sand and other additives to give them properties and qualities that make them resistant to the elements such as UV rays, pool chemicals, salt, ...etc. Most of these products can dry pretty quickly after being applied so you can enjoy your newly resurfaced deck right away! Pool deck surface Your pool deck surface is exposed to the elements such as weather and everyday use. Over time, this can make you deck look tired, dull and worn. Even stagnant water can do some damage if its never removed and properly cleaned. Again, if the concrete itself is cracked, this is a structural problem, not a cosmetic one. This would need to be repaired. But for surface wear and tear, a resurfacing job made by a good company can make your deck look like new again. What is Pool Deck resurfacing or coating? If your concrete deck is perfectly fine and there are no issues with respect to the overall structure, a special coating product can be applied to the surface only. This can rejuvenate the look of the deck and also give the concrete a layer of protection. Although thin, the layer is thick enough to fill in minor cracks and blemishes to make it smooth again. Patterns and different colors can be added for esthetics and also to match your surroundings. Some of the benefits of Pool Deck resurfacing or coating Prevents slips and falls. A wet surface can be very slippery and dangerous. The material that is used creates a nice textured surface. This creates an anti slip and fall surface to keep accidents from happening. Especially for young children! Easy to clean and maintain The special surface creates a seal that in turn protect the concrete underneath. It really easy and fast to clean. Protects your skin from heat, especially your feet! Concrete is known to get really hot under the sun. It absorbs heat and can get quite hot to the touch...like burning hot! The resurfacing materials used today do not absorb heat like concrete does. This makes it much more comfortable to walk and enjoy your pool deck on those hot summer days. Save money and time If your deck does not have cracks that compromise the integrity of the concrete structure. In other words, the cracks are only on the surface and not through the complete slab, then getting your pool deck completely resurfaced as opposed to redone represents a considerable amount of money (and time) saved. Most jobs are done pretty quickly so you can go back to enjoying your pool and backyard fast. Need to get your pool deck resurfaced? Call for a free consultation

My husband is considering resurfacing our backyard pool because it was installed about 10 years ago and the surface is chipping. Thanks for your comment about how since decks are unprotected from rough weather each and every day, they can suffer some natural wear and tear. I like what you said about how professionals can fill cracks, making your deck look smooth and as good as new.
